Medium is recommended for 17 to 25 pounds. Our large size is for animals 26 pounds and over. The plastic option is also available in 12 different colors. The plastic that we use is thicker than most plastic used by other companies. Plastic also makes less noise, hanging on the collar, than stainless. Our stainless steel and brass are more traditional materials and may be more durable for animals that chew. Colored aluminum is a material used by some other companies. The color on these can wear off quickly and it may become difficult to read. Aluminum is the material most often used for license and vaccination name plates because it is less expensive than other materials. However, these are typically replaced every year. The identification does no good if it is unreadable. Get an extra tag or two for your luggage, kid's back pack, etc. They make great gifts. An attachment ring is included with each tag.
